Traveling with Cupcakes
As I was passing out my Autumn Peanut Butter Cup Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Buttercream Frosting(recipe found here), my friends asked what I was using to store them in. Was it…a bowl?
Why yes, yes it was! It never occurred to me not everyone knows this trick. I take a large, reusable plastic bowl with a mostly flat lid, flip it upside down and use the lid as my platter. Then I use the bowl as the lid. I can fit 10 cupcakes in the particular bowl I use.
I guess it was the frugal side of me that didn’t want to purchase a special cupcake transporting container. It basically has one use and is awkward to store. This way, I use the bowl in it’s intended way AND as a cupcake container. Multiple uses and much more affordable. You get 2 bowls which means you can fit 20 cupcakes total! That’s way more than any cupcake container I’ve ever seen for sale.
I also fit 8 inch round cakes on the lid, frost them, top it with the bowl and there we have an easy way to store a cake!
I found a great sale on these bowls a while back and kept some in my stockpile. You never know when one will break and you need a back up!
