Don’t want to pay full price? Negotiate!
A few years ago, we were in the market for someone to install a garage door opener. When I got my quote, the man asked me, if I would be paying cash. It suddenly dawned on me to ask him, “Why? Is the price different?”
He then explained to me they give a discount when you pay cash because they don’t have to charge you the fee the credit card company charges them for using their services. Most companies build that cost right into all their prices because they don’t want to eat that cost.
The trick is, most companies won’t tell you this secret! It’s up to you to ask, “Do you have a cash price?”. I do it all the time and have saved hundreds!
My husband’s favorite hobby is garden tractor pulling. He can go through quite a few parts when things break on his tractor, which can get quite costly. I told him to ask the implement dealer if they had a cash price. He said, no he wouldnt, he’s a business. His prices are his prices. I said, just give it a try.
His next parts order, he asked and sure enough! His price was much cheaper and they’ve been dealing in cash ever since!
Next time you need to make a purchase from a local business, give it a try! I know I always do! The worst they can do is say no.
